PARANG - Beyond The Decoration // CREATION
1.
EXT. SANDY PATHWAY, UPHILL – DAY – DAY 1
We see footsteps running
uphill, a figure approaching from a distance. We soon learn that he is a king, running
away from the riot. He kept on running, and stopped right before he passed the
edge of a cliff. He stopped and took a look around, only realizing where he was.
He sits down on the edge
of the cliff, and started meditating. From where he is sitting, he could gaze
upon the water below him, watching how the waves come and break upon the
cliff in an endless roll.
Days passed by, and the
king stayed focused in his meditation. His focused has caused his surrounding
to be restless, waves that are rolling onto the beach get bigger and the land
on his surrounding seems to be awakened.
A figure comes from the
water, going through the troubled water and land. Soon it is visible that it
was the Queen of the South Sea, coming up to see what had caused all the
trouble in her kingdom.
The queen approached the
meditating king; her presence wakes him up. The queen then asked him what was
wrong, that he had to do such a focused practice causing the awakening of his
surrounding. He then explained to her about what is going on in his kingdom,
the troubles and riots between his people. Upon hearing, the queen then tells
the king that she can help him under one condition; that he will marry her and
make her his spiritual wife. The king agrees, as long as there are no children
to be born from the union.
A ceremony is then being
held, symbolizing the power of the land and water merging together
harmoniously. It is then becoming a known tradition for any king of the kingdom
to honor the spiritual marriage, also inspired the king to create the Parang
pattern, a symbol of strength of the royalty with the waves rolling against the
cliff.
